Why do consumers buy counterfeit luxury brands?
Luxury brands as in, think of big names like, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, MAC, Gucci, Burberry and the list goes on.

And this is an indication of a person aspiring for a richer lifestyle. Fakes will always be Fakes and products cannot actually change a person's social status.
#2 Cheap Price - If it looks good enough, if it can fool enough and if the quality of the item can do the job then the item is a steal. Filipinos have this thinking because as I've said in part one, this is rooted from our economy. Filipinos aren't sensitive enough to know the PROS and CONS.

WHAT YOU CONTRIBUTE WHEN YOU BUY COUNTERFEITS:
1. Funds serious organized crimes. (e.g. terrorism)
2. Counterfeits threaten the safety of consumers through products that have not been properly tested (e.g. high levels of lead in plastic toys);
3. Counterfeits offers a poor deal to consumers with no money-back guarantee;
4. Cause job losses due to decrease of sales in companies;
5. Outlets/Stores close after unfair competition from 'discount' stores or markets (which actually sells counterfeits);
6. Harms the national economy through tax evasion, remember that we are in a Third World Country, our economy is already suffering and yet, we see counterfeit items being sold at the sidewalks.
7. Child labor - yes, ladies its real. They use children to assemble leather handbags and other goods as well. Just google on the news, you'll see plenty of reports.
So please guys, share this AWARENESS.
Save those with jobs who make your favorite products the best it can be, save the children who are suffering from labor, save the nation by getting involved and concerned with our economy.
SAY NO TO COUNTERFEITS.

i couldn't agree with you more! seriously, where's the pleasure in buying knockoffs? it's like they're only fooling themselves. >< and there are just too many of them here in the country. thanks for blogging about this

This is so true, I'm glad people are still talking about this because it's a real issue. There's no reason to buy counterfeit, most people can tell that it's fake anyway
People don't know but lucky it isn't really an issue here.
yes, as a matter of fact i'd rather wear something brandless or something from a thrift store as long as it's not fake ^^

here in the philippines....u will be shocked by all the knock offs on the streets and the law isnt really much doing anything...i guess thats why we have so many corrupt politicians..
