CLUELESS FILIPINA EP.2: ARE YOUR BRUSHES GOOD ENOUGH? OR DO YOU EVEN HAVE ONE?!?

[caption id="" align="alignnone" width="490"] Piece of Advice: Pick a good brush[/caption]

Having a makeup brush set is one thing. But is it good enough?

More often than not, the average filipina would not get a makeup brush set.
Let's get real. When was the first time you had a brush set? and most often, when Filipinas go for a brush set, we purchase the small travel-sized inexpensive ones, just so it could do the job.

Well, ladies. I'm taking you to a whole new level, especially for newbies on why is it so important to have GOOD makeup brush sets, and not just a cheap makeup brush set, the one that can actually do the job and DO IT WELL.

1. It looks flawless & perfectly blended

We often use our fingers for liquid foundation and concealers and stuff. Right? But did you sanitize your hands first? How even did your hands made the coating? There are a lot of things we still need to consider when using your hands. Although a lot of people say that it is the best tool, but personally, a professional brush will save you the time and effort of doing so. And since good brushes are accurate you will achieve that look that you're going for without breaking a sweat.

2. It promotes CREATIVITY

When you have brushes, you are able to CREATE different looks that a normal eyeshadow sponge applicator or any other simple sponge applicators can't. YOU WILL BE ENCOURAGED to PRACTICE because you have that BRUSH SET and before you know it, you'll be making those awesome SMOKEY EYES you've been dying to get or that perfect winged eyeliner tip.

The above-mentioned are just two major points that I have and you will be thanking yourself for INVESTING in a GOOD BRUSH SET.

So, for the CLUELESS FILIPINA, you are missing out a whole new world of brushes.
So, let me introduce you guys to some of the BRANDS that are widely used today.

1. MAC

These are the most awesome brushes I have ever encountered, but also very pricey, they go for about P1,000/piece. But if you take care of them, it will last a lifetime. Many PRO make up artists use this brush and a lot of make up gurus we see on youtube. Mainly because its ultra soft and ultra accurate. You can never go wrong with MAC.

WARNING: There are A LOT OF FAKE MAC BRUSHES. DO NOT BY FAKE ONES. PLEASE. REMEMBER THAT MAC NEVER EVER EVER SELL MAKE UP BRUSH SETS EXCEPT FOR HOLIDAY EDITIONS.

2. SIGMA

Sigma brushes are pretty similar with MAC brushes. They have the same numbering system and the same design. They are more affordable than the MAC ones but they do the job well. But these brushes do not keep their best shape, you really have to take care of them, unlike the MAC ones, they retain their perfect shape after use and/or cleaning. Price range for the kits would start at P5,000.

3. SHU UEMURA

This made in JAPAN and is also one of the high-end ones made by hand, like the two others mentioned, this brush is incredibly soft as well and easy to maintain. You can get these at Rustan's Tower in Shangri-la mall EDSA Crossingor in Powerplant Mall, Rockwell Center. The sets are pricey and price range is about P4000 and above.

4. REAL TECHNIQUES BY SAMANTHA CHAPMAN

5. CHARM MAKEUP BRUSHES

Charm (WOW like my name, Charmaine) is making its waves at the Philippines. I have read this through several local magazines and it really has a lot of good reviews. I haven't tried this one out yet but I am planning to get one set hopefully before the year ends! They have really PINK (you know how I feel about PINK) PACKAGING. Its just to die for.

6. ECOTOOLS

Ecotools is made in Paris and was launched in 2008. This is the GOD of EARTH FRIENDLY brushes. They have the most awesome BAMBOO brushes ever. Yes it is SOFT and ACCURATE. I love the KABUKI BRUSHES they have, it gives an even covering. I just love them. These go for about P500 and above per set.

7. DOLLFACE COSMETICS

DOLL IT UP! with Dollface brushes is good for those who are starting to learn about makeup, I guess I could say that it is GOOD enough to do the job, just take care of these brushes. Use brush guards as much as you need them to maintain its shape. These go for P1800/set and above.
